What do you have to do?
- If you are keeping the same mobile telephone number, you do not need to do anything. You will continue to receive your DigiD login code via an SMS.
- If you change your mobile telephone number, you should notify DigiD of the new number. Do this before you cancel your old number.
- If you have a DigiD without SMS verification, apply to DigiD for this service. Make sure you do so before you leave the Netherlands.
No DigiD yet
You can apply for a DigiD online. Your activation code will be sent to your Dutch address within 5 days. If you live outside the Netherlands, you will have to collect your activation code from a DigiD desk in person.
If you want to make an application or notify DUO of a change in circumstances without using DigiD, you will have to use a form.
Messages by post
If you currently receive your notifications from DUO digitally but are no longer able to log in to Mijn DUO, send us an e-mail and we will send all your messages by post. Please state your citizen service number (BSN), full name and date of birth in the e-mail.
